Meet Our Doctors


  Dr Kenny Crawford

Dr. Crawford graduated from UNC Chapel Hill in 1985 and from NC State College of Veterinary Medicine in 1989. He is a member of Phi Zeta Veterinary Honor Society. He joined Lawndale Veterinary Hospital in 1992. His veterinary interests include ultrasound, exotic medicine, soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, and reproductive medicine. He has a wife, Sonya, and two sons: Seth, 17, and Luke, 14. They share their home with their 3 dogs, Bodie Lee, Corky, and Hazel, and orange tabby, Kitty Wilson. Dr. Crawford is an active member in his church and spends his free time trail running, mountain biking, and kayaking.

  Dr. Karyn Waterman

Dr. Waterman received her degree in veterinary medicine at North Carolina State University in 1999. Her first experience in veterinary medicine was at Lawndale when she worked in the kennels while in high school. She decided to return to Lawndale Veterinary Hospital in 2003 after practicing for four years. She and her husband, Matthew, live in Oak Ridge with their daughter, two cats, and Border collie. Her veterinary interests include dermatology, feline practice and pain management. She is a member of the NCSU-College of Veterinary Medicine Alumni Board of Directors, and is a volunteer surgeon for Feral Cat Adoption and Placement. In her free time, Dr. Waterman enjoys reading, running, volunteering, and spending time with her family.

  Dr. Carrie Jelovich

Dr. Jelovich was born in Syracuse, NY and received her degree in veterinary medicine at North Carolina State University in 1998. After nine years of working in a small animal practice, she joined Lawndale Veterinary Hospital in October 2006. Dr. Jelovich loves schnauzers and anything related to schnauzers. Her main veterinary interests include dermatology and internal medicine. Dr. J’s time is shared between practicing high quality medicine and her family (her husband Chris, her schnauzer “Cobalt”, her cat “Pooh bear” and her football team, the Philadelphia Eagles). Her hobbies include reading, water skiing, and watching football games, as well as spending time with her family.

  Dr. David Martinez

Dr. David Martinez-Jimenez was born in Valencia (Spain) and completed his veterinary degree at the College of Veterinary Medicine of Zaragoza (Spain) in 2002. His main focus of interest is Exotic, Zoo and Wildlife Animal Medicine and Surgery. Thus, he completed a Master’s degree in Wild Animal Health at the Royal College of Veterinary Medicine and the Institute of Zoology of London in 2004. In 2005, Dr. David Martinez-Jimenez came to the USA to further his knowledge where he completed an internship in Exotic, Zoo and Wildlife Animal Medicine and Surgery at the College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Georgia. Dr. Martinez-Jimenez has given lectures in Veterinary Conferences and published scientific papers in veterinary journals. He joined Lawndale Veterinary Hospital in September 2006 to assist at the Natural Science Center of Greensboro and help with the accomplishment of the zoo accreditation with the American Zoo Association. Dr. Martinez-Jimenez loves to practice state-of-the-art medicine in small, exotic and zoo animal medicine, as well as enjoying his free time with his wife and family (three cats and one dog).

  Dr. John Wehe

Dr. Wehe is a Greensboro native and received his veterinary medicine degree at North Carolina State University in 2007. He moved back to Greensboro in June 2007 with his wife, Kari, and his two daughters, Jadie Ruth and Naomi. In anticipation of practicing high quality medicine and to continue his professional development, Dr. Wehe joined Lawndale Veterinary Hospital’s team. Dr. Wehe’s interest includes exotic and small animal medicine and surgery. His greatest passion is avian medicine and small animal soft tissue surgery and orthopedics. Dr. Wehe enjoys spending his free time with his family.
